Only a handful of divers are lucky enough to see eye to eye with Dominica’s amazing whales

For many visitors to Dominica, a whale-watching trip is an unforgettable experience — more than a dozen different cetacean species have been spotted in the deep waters off the “Nature Isle.” But few manage to get this close to one of the gentle giants. A government permit is required to swim or dive with whales like this one: a sperm whale nicknamed Scar.
