The Caribbean online.

The Caribbean is one of the most popular topics on the web, and many Caribbean websites show the breathtaking beauty of the islands in rich imagery, constrained only by the resolution of the computer screen. Because most of these sites are graphics-intensive, you have to be patient while the pictures download, but usually they are worth the wait. Here are a few off-the-beaten track sites.

The Kinky Caribbean Cruise

I enjoyed following this group of “escapees” on the Kinky Caribbean Cruise aboard Royal Caribbean’s Majesty of the Seas. “For an entire week, they sailed lazily around the Western Caribbean, visiting some of the most beautiful islands and beaches imaginable.” And listen to this: “For our next outing, we’re considering a private villa on Barbados for a dozen people . . . first come, first served. Don’t miss out again!”

Honeymoons At Sea

This is a truly romantic idea, getting married and having your honeymoon while cruising the beautiful waters of the Caribbean. All your guests have a great holiday too! “Isn’t planning a wedding enough to drive you crazy? Just pause for a moment and consider a lovely thought: Why not let our cruise specialists plan the honeymoon? We’ll handle everything — the airfare, the accommodations, the food, the entertainment, the breathtaking scenery — everything. All you have to do is show up!”

Caribbean clothing-optional resorts

While Caribbean society on the whole is very conservative, there are a few naturist resorts; but they are difficult to find, and you may be disappointed when you get there. This website has collected visitors’ reviews of resorts and beaches in the Bahamas, Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, St Martin and Bonaire. If you want to check out the weather before finalising your holiday in the Caribbean, here’s a source of good information and links from USA Today: • Caribbean and Bahamas temperatures • Fahrenheit to Celsius temperature conversions • How El Niño should affect Latin American and Caribbean weather • Travel information for the Bahamas, Bermuda and the Caribbean.

Club Bonito, Las Galeras Samana Peninsula, Dominican Republic
http://www.club-bonito.com/
Need a get-away-from-it-all kind of resort? The Caribbean boasts some of the finest beaches in the world, with hotels and guest houses to suit every personality. You don’t need to go to Alaska or Hawaii to see whales — 4,500 humpback whales visit the Bay of Samana, to calve and mate in the early part of the year, between January and April. Have a look at Club Bonito’s website, a well-designed and attractive advertisement for this hotel in the Dominican Republic. “Club Bonito is located right on the beach in Las Galeras — a small fishing village cloistered on the Rincon Bay, ranked as having one of the top 10 beaches, and without question one of the best panoramic views in the Caribbean. The Bay has magnificent scenery with blue waters, sequestered white sandy beaches and reefs; rimmed by cliffs and palm-covered hills. With only four small hotels on the Bay, it is unquestionably the unspoiled Caribbean at its best.”
